Alibaug Family Strengthening team in collaboration with district administration & social department-DWCD, have inaugurated distribution of dry kit program for three months at district level covering 12 blocks of Raigad district of Maharashtra State. Dry ration kits will be distributed to 137 families covered 228 children, who lost either one parent or both parent during second wave of devastating COVID-19 virus. All these 228 children & 137 families have been identified by district task force group of Raigad administration in which we are also an invited member.
Family Strengthening Team Pune organized a session on Stress Management, Safety, and Mental health for Youths.73 youth actively participated in the session. The session covered stress management, psychosocial sensitization during the pandemic, healthy food habits etc.
Family Strengthening team Alibaugm, today distributed nutrition materials to malnourished children at Bandhan Village/community.
Nutritional material kits were distributed to 75 malnourished children from 71 families of Bandhan Village, which is the most covid affected cluster of this Alibaug region.
In the Latur district, a district-level task force has been formed by district administration for the protection and rehab of 167 children (93 families) who have lost one or both the parents due to COVID 19. As part of the task force, FS Program Latur decided to provide a dry-ration kit for 3 months to all the 93 listed families. Today, during the District level COVID 19 review meeting, Mr. Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh (Minister of Medical Education and Culture for Maharashtra Government) inaugurated the dry-ration kit distribution program. In his address, Mr. Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh has appreciated the efforts of SOS Children’s Village Latur and suggested linking the children & youth with skill development programs. On this occasion, the District Collector, CEOs of Urban and Rural bodies, and officials of all the line departments appreciated the efforts of SOS Children’s Village Latur.

Family Strengthening Programme Rourkela Team provided support to non FS COVID affected family where the primary caregiver died due to COVID-19 leaving her husband and two children (one child is 2 Months only). Dry ration provided to the family and family enrolled to our FS programme.
Family Strengthening Nagapattinam team along the local panchayat organized a drive on COVID-19 vaccination campaign at Sikkal Panchayath on 19/05/2021. Local district health department of Nagapattinam organized the doctors and village nurses for conducting this program. Over 100 people were screened through the camp and more than 75 people got vaccinated.
Today, 19th May 2021, the family strengthening team Hyderabad conducted a virtual online session on life skills for 35 youth. The interactive session focused on various life skill lessons such as Stress management, Emotional intelligence, Personality development, Interview skills, etc. A professional soft skill trainer with experience of over 10 years with various corporates, institutions, colleges was the spokesperson of this session.
FS Thrissur has joined hands with Pananchery Panchayat by providing ambulance service to Domiciliary Care Centre (DCC) for COVID affected individuals which is situated in our FS Cluster. This ambulance service with oxygen support will be utilized by the patients admitted in DCC and the emergency patients of the panchayath. This ambulance service is provided by FS Thrissur for DCC.
FS Thrissur is providing support for the COVID positive children admitted in CFLTC (Covid 19 First Line Treatment Centre) by starting the child care space. Objective of the Child Care Space is to reduce the stress of COVID positive children through various activities. SOS India has also appointed two nurses to help the children, as an additional support to the local government. Since the nurses are working with children affected with COVID-19, we have advised nurses to support and guide children in this difficult situation especially when they are in need of psychological support. This is a short stay arrangement. Children in this facility will go home once recovered and complete their quarantine period. We are also providing children with nutritional diets such as apples, oats, biscuits etc. as per recommendations from the doctors.
SOS India Family Strengthening team Pune is providing medical support and counselling sessions to COVID-19 postive patients, admitted at COVID Centre and also to those who are in home quarantine at Markal cluster in Pune. These families belong to BPL category and they are unable to afford any medical care by themselves.

SOS Children’s Villages Family Strengthening Programme Hojai Team has started providing support in the mass
COVID-19 vaccination program. FS team deployed trained volunteers for the verification of registered beneficiaries on behalf of Health dept. & issued tokens for vaccinations with keeping detailed records of vaccinated persons.

Free ambulance service was launched today in Bhubaneswar for COVID-19 positive patients by SOS Children’s Village Bhubaneswar team.
SOS Children’s Village FS team at Bawana has started Community Kitchen at J J Colony, Bawana with the support from youth at the location. This community kitchen will provide two daily meals to the COVID Positive individuals who are under home quarantine. The community is urban slum and maximum people of the community are daily wage earners.

Keeping the safety and well being of people in mind, Village Panchayat provided face masks, sanitizers, hand gloves and oximeter in three clusters (Kurru, Kathiya and Khandwa) of SOS India’s – Family Strengthening Programme Raipur. The distribution of these items was carried out by our community outreach team in Raipur following all necessary precautions. In fact further also our animator’s will be involved in the community to monitor the situation and help people stay protected.
Our Family Strengthening programme team are working day and night to strengthen the covid vaccination movement in the clusters supported by SOS Children’s Villages of India. Our FS Rajpura team has facilitated over 140 persons to get vaccinated in Khanpur Baring village. Similarly we have facilitated 108 people to get vaccinated in Madanpur community in Rajpura. Vaccination is being done on weekly basis in Aanganwadi centers in both FS clusters
Our social workers continue to guide our caregivers and community memebers to follow hygiene and sanitation practices and take extra care during this Covid-19 second wave.
During the 2nd wave of COVID-19, FSP Bhuj has successfully made tuition classes possible through online mode. Children from Nana Reha cluster studying in class 10th and 12th are taking online classes as well as tests and preparing for their board exams virtually.
