Over 20 children from SOS Children’s Villages of India (Alibaug) got the golden opportunity to be part of Netflix’s Mowgli World Premier Event on 25th November 2018 in Mumbai. The enthralling evening witnessed the presence of many renowned Bollywood actors, including the Indian voice cast of Netflix’s Mowgli- Abhishek Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and their Hollywood counterparts Serkis (Writer & Driector), Christian Bale, Rohan Chand and Freida Pinto. While children were thrilled to be part of the programme, many Bollywood and Hollywood actors also signed our pledge wall in support of our work, ensuring a loving home for every child.
After meeting the children, Batman Actor Christian Bale said, “I have been a long-time supporter of SOS Children’s Villages. It is a wonderful organisation. My family and I are actually starting an SOS Village in Los Angeles. It is a wonderful thing, keeping siblings together. It has professionally trained foster parents and great stability for the children. It has made my trip here and my family’s trip really worthwhile to meet the children.”
On this occasion, Anuja Bansal, Secretary General of SOS Children’s Villages of India added, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the celebrities for showing their support for the cause. Every child in need of care should be provided a loving home with a mother and every child must be respected and protected. It is only by investing in children today, we can succeed in promoting equitable, inclusive and sustainable development for the nation. We hope that these endorsements have a trickledown effect on the fans of all the celebrities including Mr. Christian Bale, and we have more public support pouring in. It will give us the strength and conviction to provide loving homes to many more children.”
