Donna Lawphniaw was brought to SOS Children’s Village Shillong at the age of five. She was placed in the Mawsmai family, where she grew up along with her brothers and sisters, under the loving care of her SOS Mother. Bright and intelligent, she did amazingly well in studies. Donna did her schooling from the Christian Academy School, Shillong, where she also passed her class 10 Board Examinations with the second division. After completing her schooling, she opted for a diploma in Hotel Management and Travel & Tourism from the International Institute of Management & Research, Guwahati. She was always passionate to work in the hospitality sector. As she grew up, not only did she work hard to chase her dream, she even made it a reality.

Donna was placed as a hostess in Hotel Taj Vivanta, Mumbai, by her institute. Not only did she work there for three years, she was also the all-time achiever and best employee in that period. Currently, she is working with Harmony of the Seas- the world’s largest cruise ship and ultimate Royal Caribbean holiday; and is posted at the Atlantics Ocean, United States of America.

From being a little girl in an SOS Children’s Village to becoming an independent girl who travels the world alone, Donna’s journey has been incredible. She is still in touch with her SOS Mother and family. SOS India is very proud of Donna!
