Shivani came to SOS Children’s Village Greenfields at the age of two. As a child, she dreamt of becoming an airhostess as well as a chef. While her conflicting passions made the girl nervous about her future, her SOS family and everyone else in the Village ensured to guide her at every step. With the guidance of the Village Counsellor Mr. Naushad, Shivani took admission in a hotel management institute in Delhi after completing her schooling. Her excitement knew no bounds as she had taken the first step towards fulfilling her dream of becoming a chef.

Shivani says, “At first, it was like a dream come true. But as I was getting to know more about the profession I’d chosen for myself, I realised that it was way different than what I’d imagined it to be. Eventually, I had established that this was not the field I wanted to work in and I quit.”

As Shivani grappled with getting clarity for her career, Mr. Naushad helped her alongside to understand her calling. It was now that she decided to pursue her Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Sikkim Manipal University and decided to opt for sales in the hospitality sector. Today, Shivani is working with Radisson Blu Hotel in Faridabad as a Sales Manager. Radisson Hotel Group is one of the world’s largest hotel companies with more than 1400 hotels in its portfolio, operational in 73 countries. The girl now aspires to become the Vice President.

Shivani got married in 2015 to a mechanical engineer, who works with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). While she leads a busy life, she always ensures to stay in touch with her SOS Family. She adds, “Me and my family always try to get together during festivals, since it becomes difficult to meet regularly. It makes me very happy to know that one of my sisters is now working with Indigo Airlines and another is pursuing Hotel Management from the Kurukshetra University. I feel very grateful for everything that SOS India has done for me. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
