Sports and cultural event in SOS Khajuri Kalan
On 3rd December, to reinforce the meaning of inclusiveness amongst the society, encourage children of all kinds of abilities and raise awareness for the specially-abled children, SOS Children’s Village Khajuri Kalan, hosted a sports and cultural event in association with the Department of Social Justice and Disability Empowerment, Bhopal, on the occasion of United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was flagged off in the presence of Chief Guest of the occasion, Sri Sandeep Rajak, Commissioner Disability (Madhya Pradesh) and Mr. Sudarshan Suchi, Secretary General – SOS India, dignitaries from the Government and members of SOS India family. Heart touching performances were shown during the event that left the entire audience is tears.
First Aid Training program at SOS Chennai
Being a child care NGO, SOS India focuses on sensitizing and imparting knowledge to our child care staff. A First Aid Training program for building their capacity in safety and security was organised at SOS CV Chennai in association with the Red Cross Society, Kancheepuram. The program covered various first aid emergency methods such as fire accidents, electric shocks, water accidents, road accidents, snake/insect bites and dog bites. As the resource person – Mr. Manickam (District Secretary, Red Cross Society) emphasized more on the life-saving techniques such as Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). He even demonstrated various life-saving techniques for the children.
Awareness program on “Adolescent Health” by FSP Begusarai
Health issues of adolescent girls are a very important concern. Lack of proper knowledge and sanitation practices lead to serious health related problems among girls. To address such issues, on 19th December FSP Begusarai team organised an awareness program on “Adolescent Health” for 105 grownup girls from different clusters at IOCI Township. The program was inaugurated in the presence of Doctors, AVD-FSP and distinguished functionaries from Barauni Refinery, Begusarai. VPS Computer’s Management provided technical support. The program was led by two renowned doctors – Dr. Bhavya Sareen and Dr. Mini Kumari who spoke to the adolescent girls about their problems followed by an open discussion about adolescent health problems.
FSP Visakhapatnam conducted capacity building program for Bal Panchayat
The Family Strengthening Programme – Visakhapatnam conducted a capacity building program for the Bal Panchayat members at Bheemunipatnam on 21st December. Total 150 members participated in the program including mothers. The objective of the program was to enhance capacities of Bal Panchayat members. To address issue of children to line departments and to empower children on Child rights and protection. Stakeholders from Government departments, Municipal department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, The State commission for the protection of child rights, the Juvenile Welfare department and the Child welfare committee were also present at this program.
Football Tournament by SHGs and FSP Shillong
A Football Tournament was organised by SHGs of FSP Shillong (Pynthor) along with the support of other SOS FSP Shillong teams. The presence of Mr. George Lyngdoh (MLA) during the grand finale was a great encouragement for the children who participated. He even gave INR 10,000 as cash prize to the winning team. We would like to congratulate all the children for their wonderful performance!
SOS Family is proud of Dhanalakshmi
Dhanalakshmi made the entire SOS Family proud by winning the first prize in district level Silambam, Martial Art Competition. She is one of our beneficiaries from the Family Strengthening Programme – a community intervention programme, designed to prevent children from losing parental care. This is done by empowering children and women from vulnerable sections of society.
Annual Sports Competition by FSP Bhubaneswar
An annual sports competition in Kukimahal community was organised by our Family Strengthening Programme Bhubaneswar team for 80 senior Bal Panchayat children from three different FSP clusters. The event had many fun filled activities, such as spoon and pebble race, musical chairs, balloon blasting etc. The children had a wonderful day and enjoyed to the fullest. Our national campaign #NoChildAlone was the focus of this annual sports competition.
