February Round Up
1. Our girls soar high!
Komal, Kavita & Nishtha from SOS Children’s Village Greenfields made us proud by their outstanding performance in sports and arts at the Girl Child Celebrations organised by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, on 16 February 2019. They were awarded medals, cash prizes and certificates by honourable Ms. Kavita Jain, Minister, WCD, Government of Haryana.
Well done girls, way to go!!
2. Safety comes first at SOS India!
A child safeguarding activity was conducted in SOS Children’s Village Faridabad to equip children with personal safety techniques. While children indulged in many physical activities, they were also made to shake hands with their artistic side; they were asked to draw things that represented them and also the beautiful things around them. On being asked about what danger meant to them, they were handed over articles like matchboxes, knives etc. to educate them about the extent to which those items could be harmful. Essential information on one’s own body parts was also shared as part of the session, wherein they were also informed about good touch and bad touch.
3. Our boys shine bright!
We are proud to share that Viswas and Akshay from SOS Children’s Village Jammu were selected to be part of the National Carom (Doubles) Tournament, held at Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. While they received certificates of participation from the School Games Federation of India, their hard work, sincerity and commitment to follow their passion set a wonderful example for others in the children’s village.
Kudos boys, keep it up!
4. Appreciating art through Puppetry
A puppet show was organised for children at SOS Children’s Village Chennai by the Alliance Franchise. While the theme revolved around a French woman taking part in a Pongal Festival in India, children had a gala time enjoying the presentation. Apart from this, they even had a session on the different techniques of puppetry with everyone other than the children in the village; this was conducted by Ms. Blauche, who was assisted by Mr. Dhansegarane.
