September Round Up

The month of September was packed with exciting events for the children. From a Children’s rally on “Say No-To Plastic” at SOS Children’s Village Khajuri Kalan, to Children and co-workers participating in the SBI Green Marathon in Guwahati, to a career counselling workshop for beneficiaries in Bhumiyadhar FSP community, the month offered many opportunities for inclusive growth and development. 

“Say No-To Plastic” Rally at SOS Khajuri Kalan

A rally was organised at Khajuri Kalan, Tanda and Sakal with the message – Say No-To Plastic and keep cleanliness in association with government schools. Moreover, paper bags were also distributed to shopkeepers and plastic bags were taken away from them. A total of 450 participants were numbered at all locations across India.

Nutrition awareness rally organised at Anangpur

In Haryana, SOS India organized rally cum Nutrition Awareness Program on the occasion of POSHAN MAAH with the collaboration of WCD. Participants included Ms. Meera CDPO, all Anganwadi workers, caregivers, community people – children and Uddan Bal Panchayat members on 12th September 2019 at Gurukul – Family strengthening program location of our Anangpur Project. Individuals and children from our FSP community actively participated in this campaign and took benefit from this significant awareness session.

Career counselling workshop at Bhumiyadhar community in Bhimtal

 

A career counselling work shop was organised for the children of Bhumiyadhar community at GIC Bhimyadhar by Mr.Devendra Singh Kotliya. The main objective of the counselling workshop was to enhance children’s knowledge about different career options and motivating children for education/vocational training. Children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and learnt valuable tips for their life. In fact, the total number of beneficiaries of this activity were 92.

Workshop on “Child Safeguarding”

A workshop on “Child safeguarding “was organized at Madanpur village community in which 60 caregivers and community ladies participated. Caregivers were guided and motivated by Mr. Anoop Singh, Village Director and Santosh Kumar Singh Assistant Village Director, Family Like Care. Caregivers were told about child abuse along with how they can protect their children from such abuses.

Radio Mirchi SBI Green Marathon supports our #NoChildAlone Campaign

In Guwahati, 59 children and 4 co-workers participated in the SBI Green Marathon on 29th September. In spite of continuous rain, all the children completed the Marathon of 5K category and all got “Finisher” medal. In the event site SOS India’s National Campaign #NoChildAlone Standees were placed in a prominent place.

2019 Tarang Zonal Competition

 

The most exciting Tarang Zonal Competitions 2019 have begun and are being held in all four zones of India at the following locations – East: Guwahati and Kolkata, West: Bhopal, North: Bhimtal and Varanasi and South: Hyderabad. Great enthusiasm is being seen among the children of SOS Children’s Villages of India for all kinds of sports such as cricket, athletics etc. and cultural competitions. Children are very excited for the finals coming up in November.
