Poor performance on health and nutrition front, family planning, child immunization, nutritional status of women and children, and maternal & child health are the main reasons for backwardness in Haryana’s Nuh district. SOS India working in 3 villages of Nuh with 231 families and more than 750 children, addressed the problems faced by school going children especially girls due to lack of facilities. In discussion with the caregivers for availing cycles for girls, SOS India approached Thomson India Press Limited explaining them the problems faced by girls and approaching them to support us in meeting the needs. Finally, on 31st January, with the support of Thomson India Press Limited, SOS India succeeded in providing Bicycles (HERO Brand) to 130 school going girls from 3 Nuh FSP clusters. The cycle distribution ceremony was held at the campus of HGS School Village – Palla Nuh and were jointly provided by members of SOS and Thomson India. Family Strengthening Programme Thrissur organized a one day Exam Orientation Programme for 40 school going children from 3 clusters. All the children are preparing for their upcoming final examinations in March 2020. The main objective of the training was to build self-confidence and overcoming fear & tension of exams. The session trainer Mr. C N Ajaykumar covered topics like – how to create interest, scientific study schedule, brain activation, instant energy techniques and success triangle. He also explained the children about memory tips, overcoming exam fear, tensions, secrets of effective presentation and about one of the main study techniques – SQRRR, a reading comprehension method named for its five steps, survey, and question, read, recite, and review SOS Children’s Villages of India was honored to be a part of India’s Largest Undergraduate Management Fest – Business Conclave, the Shri Ram Business Conclave 2020, a unique event of unparalleled scale, with more than 8000 participants from top institutions. The three day mega-event serves as a forum for the brightest students in the country to compete against each other in addition to interaction with pioneers from fields of entrepreneurship, business, journalism, politics and economics. Shri Ram Case Competition is the flagship event of the Business Conclave. Participants are provided an unparalleled mental exercise as they must solve several master cases factoring in time-constraints, inter-linked industries and disparate geographies. Mr. Bartholomew Basumatary (Programme Head) and Mr. Maddali Srinivas (Zonal Director) from SOS India got the chance to hear the young and energetic participants, full of amazing ideas as their judges. SOS Children’s Village Chennai was happy to have few global representatives from Hexaware technologies on 21st Feb to connect with our children. Christa Koenen (CEO DB Systel, Global CIO DB Group), Randolf Robert (Offshoring Leader), Lars Tiedermann (Agility Master of Custom Developments Department), Amrinder (Head of Europe Operations) and Julien Laluet (Director Sales – Business Development) were among the guests present. On 21sts February, SOS Children’s Village Bhopal was awarded as the ‘Best Social Work Institute’ by the Honorable Minister P.C. Sharma and Shri Dig Vijay Singh. That day also marked the 50th Birth Anniversary of freedom fighter and philanthropist Shri Vichitra Kumar Sinha. The entire SOS India family was proud to be honoured.
